vs Lowestoft and Yarmouth Away
We travelled with 17 players for the age group! Captain for the day was Paul Clarke and pack leader Steve Web. The game overall was very even and the Swaffham pack dominated at all of the set pieces. Many balls were taken against the head and the quality of the drive was excellent. Man of the Match was awarded to the front row unit and Steve Web received it from Lowestoft and Yarmouth. Sadly the score went against Swaffham as we were never able to capitalise on our possession. All of the runners took on the whole opposition team rather than pass and this lead to us always being turned over when the player became isolated. Steve and Ben made some very penetrating runs only to loose possession at the breakdown. Closer refereeing of the offside line would undoubtedly have improved the result but Swaffham made many basic errors to give away scores. A great result from the first outing of this team and we need to work on the options at the penalty, kick off, line out and defensive play. Final score was 39 10, Swaffham scorers being Steve Web and Lammers with Steve missing both conversions. Tackle count winner was Joe with 8 out of nine attempted, Alex with six out of six attempted and Lee with five out of five attempted. One player attempted zero tackles, he knows who he is. The team needs to learn to play together without relying on the few fast players to do all of the scoring.

vs Fakenham Home
Excellent play from Swaffham saw Emmo and Birdie amongst the scores. The forwards dominated and defense was first class. Unfortunately a serious injury in the second half caused us to abandon the game when Swaffham were coasting away. Man of the match was the red cross team who acted with professionalism in the face of a potentially bad accident. Fortunately later reports were of a full recovery.

vs Spalding Home
A very large team arrived from Spalding and proceeded to play fierce hard rugby that left Swaffham 72 points astray at half time. The Spalding team rucked and mauled with far superior power and aggression. The Swaffham team decided to stay as it was at half time and refused the sporting offer to even up the sides. The second half was a good performance from Swaffham and eventually we were rewarded with a try at final whistle. Rumours of the Spalding under 16's driving out of the car park were unconfirmed.
