Home Fixture vs March RFC
Swaffham 51 March 7
After a six week break Swaffham began the new year with some excellent running rugby. With players returning from injury the team looked more balanced and cohesive and resulted in a 9 try thrashing of bottom-of-the-table March. Man of the match Morrissey scored his first hat trick for the club and captain Sparks was back to his elusive self with another hat trick. At half time it was 24-0 after five tries, and two successful conversions from Old Jim. Although under pressure in the scrum the Swaffham forwards provided plenty of clean possession for the backs to show their flair which they did at every opportunity.
March came back early in the second half but it was a token effort as Swaffham continued to run the ball from all phases and ran another four tries in with one conversion. Fitzpatrick and Balls(2) made up the total to push Swaffham towards the mid table position they deserve and would improve upon had it not been for the injuries sustained this year.

Away fixture vs March RFC
Swaffhams recent injury crisis is beginning to clear and a commited display earned them the points in a game not noted for its expansive play. March played to the conditions and took an eight point lead after a try and a penalty gave them the early upper hand . Swaffham fought back bravely and replied with a well taken try from Fitzpatrick but March hit back immediately to end the first half 15-5 in front.
Swaffham began to gel in the second half and good use of the conditions meant that they spent long periods in the March half. The pressure eventually told and Sparks sneaked in under the posts for seven points and ensured an excitng finish. March tried hard to break through Swaffhams defence but good tackling kept them at bay and from another good kick downfield Swaffham scored the try they deserved. March came close in the final minutes with a penalty attempt ,but to no avail , and Swaffham played out the final minutes to secure the points for a deserved win.
